In my past, I never went out to nightclubs or concerts because I was hesitant to go alone.
I always asked my brothers or people I know to go to a show with me but they were never interested in the same music that I am interested in so they never wanted to go. A few of my brothers have an anti-social type personality where they are antisocial most of the time. I missed so many shows because of this.

When I was a teen, in my high school years, I went to a few Insane Clown Posse shows alone. It was the 2001 Hallowicked show that was at the venue within the Detroit State Fair grounds; off of State Fair Avenue. That was near where I use to reside in Detroit; near John R road south of 8 mile road. I attended a few other ICP shows in the years following. I also attended a Delerium show with my cousin. I do not recall the year of that show. I believe it was about 2003. I think I saved the ticket stubs. I would have to look into my storage room to find them.

The reason why I did not want to go to nightclubs alone is because I always assumed that there were going to be inebriated people there looking to cause conflict. I think this belief was instilled in me by a few movie scenes that I seen where people were in clubs causing conflict. I do not recall what movie the scenes were from.

Fast forward to Rhys Fulber’s techno show set at the Leland city club in Detroit. I attended that show and that is when I discovered the Detroit Leland city club which apparently has been there, as an active Goth club since 1983. I was unaware of it. Anyway, I attend Rhys’ techno show because I have been a fan of his and his associated musicians music projects for several years. I think since I was middle-schooler age.

Attending his show at the Leland is how I discovered this awesome gothic themed dance social club. I like the building aesthetic and the clubs aesthetic. Attending the events there, I have discovered that my assumptions of aggressive inebriated people causing conflicts at nightclubs are false. Everybody there is very chill and friendly. It is a very safe space.

People who think Detroit is a city that is full of violence are making false assumptions. Especially in downtown Detroit, it is a very safe area. On 8/6/2025, me and my bro Jimi were walking around in the area around the Leland club, because I drove my bro there to check out the Leland area. It is a very nice and peaceful place. It kind of reminds me of a Detroit suburb such as Royal Oak. Very beautiful aesthetic of the downtown Detroit area. It is a few blocks away from the Detroit Masonic Temple.

I discovered that everybody at the clubs are just there to have a good time and socialize. They are not there to cause problems. Many of them are chill because they are outside in the smoking area smoking that legalized Michigan weed. The MichiGan Ganz that make you feel at peace with the universe; so I am told.

Additional clubs, besides the Leland, that I have been to are:
Smalls,
The Lincoln Factory,
ELEKTRICITY in Pontiac (with my buddy Ricky)
I have been informed of a few other clubs that I will plan on attending soon. Someone at the Leland told me about The Sanctuary in Hamtramck. It sounds cool, so I will go some day.

Just to let you all know: I am going to start inquiring about DJing at some of these venues. I am very good at making DJ mixes and I will let you all hear a demo before I try to DJ. I am also an electronic music artist.
